Technologies used in the broadcast environment are too heavy to deploy on telecommunication networks (Internet et Mobile). Classical cryptography used in Conditional Access Systems (CAS) is not built for audio-video content and does not utilize the inherent specifications of compression standards. One of the security flaws of CAS systems is that the whole content is potentially available as pirates use devices that can analyze, try and replicate the security process until the security algorithms are broken in. Once the CAS (or any system using classical cryptography) is broken in, pirates can replicate the hack to all the contents protected by the same mechanisms.
The principles of our technology and platform:
- Medialive’s content protection mechanism is tailored for digital content (audio, video, and images) encoded with standard compression formats
- Medialive’s motto is to control content consumption
- Medialive’s platform is designed to answer the needs of the new digital content consumption habits, i.e. on connected devices (computers and phones)
